Star Wars 1313: All 3 Extended Gameplay Trailers Back to Back

It has come to our attention that we are beginning to become a depository for other people’s cool. At the risk of becoming an advertising space for a company that frankly doesn’t need it I have to post this however. Lucasarts have released 3 trailers (in the wrong order) featuring gameplay from Star Wars 1313. It’s first mature rated game – I think it’s first mature rated anything – it features a breakout at the titular level 1313. These are the three trailers together – in the right order.

Whether mature content is a move that Lucasarts intend to investigate more is unknown but as much as it pains me to say it, Lucasart’s incredibly well funded design shop have done it again. It looks monumental, with (assuming the extended scene is indicative of general gameplay) beautifully developed sequences and fairly seamless and exciting gameplay. Rumours of Leisure Suit Jabba : Tits on Tatooine or the the new TV series X-Wing, a view of daily life and conflicts in the Senate by Aaron Sorkin are most likely grossly overstated.

Never the less head over to the Star Wars: 1313 site if you’d like to hear some moody music, look at this image and follow it on Facebook.

Sketches from MCM Expo

We’re a couple of weeks on from last month’s MCM Expo but I still keep finding left over bits and bobs in our various boxes and bags. One such find was some pics of sketches that Steve did for a couple of fans during the event, so I thought I’d throw them up here:

Nice little sketch of our hero.

An unorthodox request for a sketch, but as always, Steve obliged.

10 Mistakes Made by Amateur Letterers

Nate Piekos¬†knows a thing or two about lettering comics. Not only is he the¬†creator of Blambot Comic Fonts but he’s also lettered books for the likes of for Dark Horse, Marvel, etc and created a fair few comics of his own. Recently Nate posted this handy guide to common mistakes made by amateur letterers. Since it’s a skill that many of us in the indy comics scene are trying to perfect, I thought I’d throw it up here. All credit for this work goes to Nate and I strongly suggest you check out the rest of his work to see these examples in action.

An Ode to Trollin'! : Thank you Hater! Wins The Internet Today!*

This little number caught my attention earlier today and I’d lined it up for later on in the week until I saw that our resident writer Dan’s very own web savvy (and frankly cooler) brother had clocked it too I took it as a sign to post up and frankly ride the anti-trollin’ wagon.

The musical video by Clever Pie and Isabel Fey tackles the seedy underbelly of frustrated illiteracy on the web. It doesn’t quite tackle the Freudian nightmare suggested by the seemingly unstoppable bubbling up of religious extremism, bigotry and bad spelling that apparently underpins society but is held at bay because we can see each other, but it’s very funny and well aimed. And features a wanking gibbon and a Samba Interlude. Which always gets a thumb up from us.

Cnuts.

Moon's Song of the Week: Copy of Copy by Himuro

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfPP0XQ8Mps&w=640&h=480]

I know next to nothing about Himuro, I stumbled upon this track in a stack of old songs that I picked up a few years back and it’s pretty much my only exposure to his(?) work. If my wikipedia skills are on form them he’s this guy, in which case he’s worked on Final Fantasy, raised a butt load of money for charity and is huge in Japan.

What I do know is that Copy of Copy is a fantastically scrappy bit of eastern electro with a beat that reminds me of some of Dan Le Sac’s best. If you like your music choppy, fun and upbeat then you should dig this track.

Django Unchained Trailer: Revenge is a Dish Best Served Cool

Ethically borderline central characters – Check, 70s Kung Fu Movie simplicity – Check, Coolness bordering on latent homoeroticism – Check. Must be Tarantino’s back. Since the rampaging glory and Revenge of the Jews that was Inglorious Basterds I’ve been waiting (without really thinking about it often) for the next high octane dose of the ‘Tino.

While we’re never going to see the edginess of Pulp Fiction again these films are getting broader and more fun. It looks awesome. And looking at the slightly self aware casting it’s classic Tarantino!

It’s like Roots but where the slaves kick ass!!

Terrifying Justin Bieber 'Fan' Video best thing on web today / this week / this year..

In a fit of unlikely manipulation of enamoured floppy hair lovers, the media biscuit du jour, Mr Justin Bieber (or the vilalinous puppet masters that manipulate the bewildered living child ThunderBird) have come up with another worryingly deviant way of reducing teenage girls self esteem – coming up with a fabaroo contest that furthers Bieber’s nauseating influence while getting fans to do all the work! All the entrants have to do is sing along to Mr Beiber’s song ‘Boyfriend’ and the winning entries will be featured in Bieber’s upcoming NBC Special.

Harmless enough stuff – until this unnamed entrant offered this terrifyingly intimidating version in a brilliantly media savvy and entertainingly alarming way. Rather than warble along earnestly in the hope that the hopeless Bieber might see it and ask them out in the way that so many other entrants have – this entrant has made it clear exactly what sort of girlfriend Beiber really needs. Humorously, not a million miles from the psychology of the music industry execs that spawned the gormless child beast on us all.

The best part is it’ll get twice as many hits as Bieber’s no doubt vacuous NBC Special but will never appear in it – causing pop culture driven execs heads to potentially spontaneously explode with the screaming sound of potential demographics not just missed but actively pointing and laughing.

I will continue to rant unless I stop there!! More of this Iconoclastic genius. If Chris Brown attempts the same thing might I suggest Tyson does his own ‘fan’ film about how to treat a lady beater instead of letting Bieber appear in a video with him….

… okay I’ll stop…. Enjoy the video!!

What if Star Wars was a Spanish Soap Opera?

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7tZrBgwAX8&w=853&h=480]

I know Steve tends to handle the Star Wars stuff (he may well have something already planned for this week, in which case enjoy your double helping) but I’ve been laughing at this pretty much consistently for about three days and I can no longer hold off the desire to share it.

Empire Strikes Back, transformed into a Spanish soap opera.

May the passion be with you.

Moon 2: The News

Hello all!! Thanks for bearing with us as the almighty engineering process that is Moon 2. Ivanna Matilla – colourist to the gods – continues to complete the pages in pencil and ink. Once completed they are coming back here to Bunker Central to be finished – and we are well passed the half way mark. Stu at Ukomics waits like a coiled spring with an orange cap on and will put Moon 2 to print as soon as it comes in. So to clarify, the final colours will soon be in – lettering has begun. As soon as that’s completed it’s going straight to print.

We understand it’s been a hell of a wait for Moon 2 and we’re confident that it’ll be worth the wait – with major reveals, major plot moments and dramatic changes ol’ Moon Head. Everything you understood in Issue 1 may change – or will it? Frankly, it depends on how much you understood.

Much discussion has taken place at the various cons we have attended regarding the physics of bringing a Moon down to Earth. To that we say this; this will be firmly dealt with in Moon 2. We know who is responsible for all this and we are finding them. We here at Beyond the Bunker know that the truth must now be revealed. It’s very simple as you will find out…

Also – following Kapow and MCM we can confirm what we told many who came to see us (so many in fact we sold out on the first full day of MCM) that with the completion of Moon 2 preparations will begin for Moon Launch 2. Following the success of Moon Launch 1 and frankly the strength of the pun it seems inevitable. We will be looking at booking a venue in London town (as central as possible to ease the journeys of those not in the capital), throw in some comedy and musical acts – from our extensive contacts we accidentally picked up while doing stand up and artwork – charge a nominal fee at the door with which you will receive a copy of Moon 2 – numbered, signed and hopefully with an alternative cover – or a signed Moon 1 to anyone new to Moon! So determined are we that this will take place that I spent part of my Bank Holiday Monday trying to complete a logo for the new Moon Launch.

Cola Bottles Take Manhattan: Branded: The Trailer

From Directors and Writers Jamie Bradshaw and Aleksandr Dulerayn comes this twisted little tale of major brands ingratiating themselves into every day society in order to render the human race bloated and incapable of fending off a major invasion – at least that’d be my guess based on the zany trailer. Set in New York apparently, it’s strangely Eastern European looking in design.

With Max Von Sydow (looking surprisingly gaunt) and Jeffrey Tambor in seemingly strategically dramatic parts this looks like it might be a little bit of a joy to behold – if the trailer hasn’t given away the plot completely.

Not quite the new Dark City perhaps but potentially worth a look as an example of a medium size movie trying big blockbuster ideas.
