Moon Preview: Cometh the Bingo Moles

Bingo Mole is the affectionate term that we’ve applied to the villains you saw at the end of Moon #1. It’s not their real name but if we told you that we’d both spoil the story and not get to use the awesome phrase that is “Bingo Moles”.

Now that we’ve explained that little detail, proceed to feast your eyes on some brand new preview art for the upcoming second issue of Moon. It’s all kicking off and the Moles are right in the middle of it! Pencils and inks are by Steve Penfold, colours are by Ivanna Matilla.

The deck’s stacked against our heroes, but there’s still a wild card left to play.

A hero falls, another rises and an astral body grows a beard!

It’s all in the facemeltingly exciting second issue of MOON!

Moon 2, Page 1: New Lettering

Exciting times at Bunker manor. Finally – after months of trials and tribulations – and patient strumming of fingers waiting for the pages to move closer to being finished – Dan’s words begin to appear on the pages of Moon 2. This means of course we are in the final stages of Moon 2 production. Not long to go now folks.

Moon 1 is still available digitally and in print. You can order each right here from Beyond the Bunker and Graphicly.com. Just click away below!!

TED 2023 – Prometheus Goes Viral

Marketing for Ridley Scott’s new sci-fi production is ramping up as we get closer to its global release. In this brand new viral we see visionary industrialist, Peter Weyland (played by Guy Pierce) doing his best John Hammond impression as he address TED. For the curious, “TED” stands for “Technology Entertainment and Design” and is a real organisation that hosts lectures showcasing “Ideas worth spreading,” sorry if you thought I was talking about Father Ted.

The clip is very cool and further adds to the evidence suggesting that Prometheus will be something very special. Just so long as Mr Weyland remembers that it’s all fun and games until somebody gets eaten by a T-Rex Alien.

New Prints featuring Moon and Ray

Following the prints of Seven and Shades earlier this week I mentioned that I’d be posting up the other two planned prints that will be available at the Super Comic Con at the weekend. There will be 20 of each made (including a collection of all four). With so many spoilers in the pages of Moon 2 it’s impossible for me to show you more pages of Moon than we already have but never fear because it’s very, very close – and we think it’s looking very, very good… action, intrigue, high drama, moon heads!! It’s got it all!!

Moon Wins GPO Editor’s Choice Award!

I got a tweet last night from Dave Probert over at Geek Planet Online telling me that I might want to check their recent awards listings. Just to be different, GPO holds its Editor’s Choice awards around Oscars season (or more specifically, around Kermode Awards season). I clicked on the link and was somewhat knocked sideways by what I saw within:

Comic of the Year – Moon”

That’s right. The Geek Planet Online Editor’s Choice award has gone to the adventures of a man with a Moon for a head and we couldn’t be more pleased. Here’s a little excerpt from the post:

“Dan Thompson and Steve Penfold balance comedy and action perfectly with a book that feels uniquely British. It takes huge courage to have the title character be not only mute but have a moon for a head. It’s ridiculous and shouldn’t work but Moon was the most fun I have had reading a comic last year. Like Stake Land it deserves to be seen by a wider audience.”

Huge thanks to GPO for their support, to Ivanna Matilla (without whom the book would be a shell of itself) and to everyone who has supported the comic up to this point…and to the academy.

You can read an interview that I did with GPO a while back by clicking here and if you’ve yet to join the fun then you can pick up a copy of the award winning action-comedy, Moon, at this weekend’s London Super Comic Convention or direct from this site.

New Moon Prints featuring Agent Seven and Shades Rodriguez

With Moon 2 on it’s way the lines are beginning to be drawn. Each character has his part to play in the oncoming craziness so to mark this each will have a distinct character print. 2 more will appear later in the week. These may not be the final designs but we thought you’d wanna take an early look.

Moon: Seven II

Just a few more sketch works of Moon’s first nemesis. Agent Seven wants nothing more than money to fulfill his job. That, and to cave in Moon’s stone head with a giant club hammer. The combination of the two proves irresistable when the contract on Moon is up for dibs. As for what happened to Agents 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. Who knows. Seven remains the lowest number among the Bingo Mole ranks. Are they really called Bingo Moles? No. No, they’re not. We’ll call them soldiers. How’s that?

Moon: The Original Look of his Greatest Enemy (so far)

Agent Seven is the first major threat that Moon deals with. He’s the single most destructive force in Moon’s life. He’s effectively a nasty b@stard. He’s lean, mean and not against the idea of dressing like a waitress to put bullets in his target. So finally, as Moon 2 nears completion, here’s the initial sketch work.

To set him apart from many of the other characters the initial design was much more thick set than in the final character. Dan had always envisaged Seven as a lean agent, toughened but not too lumbering. So I skinnied the dude up. Trust us, the future rogue’s gallery we have planned for Moon are a great many shapes and sizes. Seven, while a constant threat, is the most normal out of the batch – and arguably the most dangerous.

Rejoice, fans of digital comics! Moon is now available to buy, download and read wherever you like! It will cost you just 99¢ (that’s about 69p to any fellow Brits) and can be viewed on your Desktop, Android, iPhone or iPad.

The book really does look stunning on a digital device and is well worth picking up, even if you already have the print edition (Steve and Iv’s artwork looks even more impressive when zoomed in close).

To check out a preview of the book, CLICK HERE and if you need a reminder as to why Moon is worth your time, here it is.
