Django Unchained Trailer: Revenge is a Dish Best Served Cool

Ethically borderline central characters – Check, 70s Kung Fu Movie simplicity – Check, Coolness bordering on latent homoeroticism – Check. Must be Tarantino’s back. Since the rampaging glory and Revenge of the Jews that was Inglorious Basterds I’ve been waiting (without really thinking about it often) for the next high octane dose of the ‘Tino.

While we’re never going to see the edginess of Pulp Fiction again these films are getting broader and more fun. It looks awesome. And looking at the slightly self aware casting it’s classic Tarantino!

It’s like Roots but where the slaves kick ass!!

Moon 2: Page 17 pencils

Page 17 of Moon 2 in all its ‘leaden’ ‘glory’ presented for your perusal. Work on Moon 2 is continuing apace and is looking really rather good for the extra effort. Many, many pages are already back from Iv’s South American palette. She continues to teach English to 11 different schools so is achieving an incredible feat by putting out any Moon pages at all. We remain as ever in awe of the lass.

But what is going on here? Both characters from the previous book and new to the series having a fight about something. But what? And what does it have to do with Moon?

We’re not telling you. Sorry. Maybe stop by the Moon table at a future con (perhaps not Kapow or MCM – sorry as it might not be available by then) or attend the Moon Launch and we’ll reveal all for a measly £3.50. Stop by anyway!!

In the meantime – why not grab another copy of Moon 1? Seriously – one for the week, one for Sunday best.

Much has been made of the apparent prequel to Ridley Scott’s Alien. An expansion of the universe (and reportedly directly relating to aspects of Alien; namely the giant alien astronaut corpse found in the space ship wreck) there is a great deal of anticipation. Reports from the set suggest that Ridley Scott is entirely unswayed by any of the conjecture surrounding his latest project. As you’d expect of a great director moving towards a potentially seminal piece of cinema he’s keeping things firmly to his chest. It is however, supposedly a matter of success or destruction for the entire Human race. How that works is still uncertain but it looks like it could be a great ride finding out according to this intriguing trailer.

Moon 2 Preview

Moon 2 is on it’s way folks!! We will try to make sure that updates are here every Monday from now on – though this is difficult to maintain so there are no spoilers – and what spoilers there could be!! Remember of course that Moon is currently at the mercy of the mysterious Bingo Mole soldiers and the mercenary killer that has shot Ray. Electrocuted, weakened and surrounded Moon will of course try to make his escape. However, will it go to plan? For starters he needs his car and it looks like it’s being nicked by a certain Shades Rodriguez….

Stay tuned to Beyond the Bunker on Mondays for the Moon face’s return… he’s coming back and we hope you’re looking forward to it as much as we are…

P.S. These are draft pencil and ink work and mock lettering – not the final look of the panel… just so you know…

First image released of Tom Hardy as Bane in the Dark Knight

The first picture of Tom Hardy as villain Bane in the massively anticipated ‘Dark Knight Rises’ has emerged online. The web was all a hub-bub as bat-fans went wild. On Friday Warner Bros. launched a dedicated website (thedarkknightrises.com), featuring a blank black page and people chanting. Eerie stuff and perhaps indicative of either a following Bane gathers or sounds from his upbringing. No doubt all will be revealed. Doubtless Nolan’s Bane will make more of his ruthless influence and tactical prowess than his previous incarnation in previous franchise killer Batman and Robin, in which Bane was a mute plant beast cum nacho libre style wrestler. Kooky.

Top marks to WB though for trying to drag out the intrigue surrounding the reveal. Later in the day a mysterious Twitter account started tweeting a section of the image. The picture was supposed to be revealed gradually, using the personal twitter icons of retweeters as the individual pixels but super fan hackers cracked the source code, revealing the whole image. The Dark Knight himself’d be proud.

So here he is;

What’d you reckon?
