Work continues apace on the central title of the Unseen Shadows Universe, currently building to a massive crescendo thanks to the tireless promotion of Barry Nugent of Geek Syndicate who created the book itself. With the Tales of the Fallen, Moon and Fallen Heroes 2 coming out in the next two months its all hands to the pumps at Bunker towers but we’re confident all will be complete.
Welcome folks. Please find attached one more art and colour sample of Cy Dethan’s version of Barry Nugent’s Unseen Shadows character, The Reverend which I’ve been working on for a few weeks now. Almost every page is finished now and on its way to be coloured by the irepresable Gat Melvyn of SA. The collected work of the five Fallen Heroes titles, Tales of the Fallen, will be available at Thought Bubble in Leeds in November.
A lot of you already know that I have a new comic coming out in November and the publishers went public with the cover today so I’m finally allowed to let you have a wee look. It’s the tale of a former Marine coming to terms with the killer he’s become. It’s also about lots of people getting shot. The cover and interior art is by Rob “Indifference Engine” Cary, colours are by Vicky Stonebridge and Letters come from Paul McLaren.
It’s being released as part of the Unseen Shadows: Tales of the Fallen collection and is shaping up to be really really good. I really can’t wait to see this one in print.
Oh, and it’s also not quite as kid friendly as Moon…sorry.
Allejuah!! First preview of Wrath of God, one section of Tales of the Fallen trade paperback available from the Thought Bubble Comic Convention in Leeds. Still working on it if I’m honest. Meanwhile 4 other creative teams all over the country are working to complete their projects ready for the big release. Trust me, there’s plenty special to take a look at.

Page 2 of the upcoming second issue of Fallen Heroes, due to be released at Thought Bubble in November. Work continues apace on the collected edition of Unseen Shadows, featuring 5 of its central characters (Ben Ashodi (The Hand), Clancy Wallencheck, Napoleon Stone, Stephanie Connisbee) in one shot stories in one tome. Featuring work from Dan Thompson, Pete Rogers, Richard Clements, Cy Dethan, Corey Brotherson, Roy Huteson Stewart, Rob Carey, Conor Boyle, Cormac Hughes, Gat Melvyn, Vicky Stonebridge, Paul Mclaren, Nic Wilkinson and myself (Steve Penfold).

This is the first bit of concept art from my next comic. It is obviously not drawn by me as I can’t draw for toffee, but is rather the work of Rob Carey who will, I’m delighted to say, be drawing the whole book. I was a fan of Rob’s work on Indifference Engine before the project and after seeing how well he’s nailed Clancy in what he called “a quick sketch I did in my lunch break” I couldn’t be more excited about seeing the rest. This comic is going to be something special.
You might notice that I’ve re-labelled the “Fallen Heroes” section of the menu to say “Unseen Shadows”. With the Unseen Shadows universe expanding beyond Fallen Heroes, it seemed to make sense to tweak the menu. You’ll still find all the old stuff there and I’ve added a link to the official Unseen Shadows site too.
I’ve actually had another bit of BoB concept art through in the last few hours, but it needs to go through Barry Nugent before we can think about making any of it public. Suffice it to say, it’s fantastic.
Those of you who have been following us for a while will know that Steve and I are currently (along with several other people) working on a Fallen Heroes spin off project called Unseen Shadows. It’s a huge project but one aspect of it involves a range of 22 page one shots, spinning out of Barry Nugent’s best selling novel/comic.
One of the spin off stories is Steph Connisbee: Operation Solomon by Richmond Clements and Conor Boyle. Barry released some preview art for the book earlier today and I have to say that it’s looking bloody lovely. Conor Boyle’s character work may well be some of the best I’ve seen on the Indy circuit and I’m now well and truly stoked for this book.
Here’s one of the pages for you to perv over but if you want to see the other one you’ll have to go over the the official UNSEEN SHADOWS WEBSITE (which is awesome).
EDIT: Be sure to have a look at Barry’s comment at the bottom of this post for clarification on what Unseen Shadows actually is. Basically Fallen Heroes is a part of the Unseen Shadows universe rather than the other way around.
